We love our legends, but we love our club more

With Arne Slot out, I’ve seen a lot of Liverpool fans lamenting and claiming that if we had sacked Slot a bit earlier, we might have landed Xabi Alonso as our manager. But honestly? The Liverpool management made a brilliant, timely decision by sacking Slot only after Xabi had already committed to another club. Let’s take a quick trip down memory lane. When Jürgen Klopp announced his departure, Xabi was busy scripting an absolute fairytale at Bayer Leverkusen. Back then, every single Red wanted our homegrown hero back at Anfield. I was so invested that I even created a public group called Leverkusen Fan BD. Our respect for him as a Liverpool legend was sky-high. But right when the club needed him the most, he essentially gave us the cold shoulder, acting all high and mighty. He couldn't make a historic, prestigious club like Liverpool his first priority. That immense respect I had for him deep down? It evaporated that very day. The drama that followed is history. After that season, he left Leverkusen, managed Real Madrid for a brief stint, got sacked in no time, and the moment he lost his job, he suddenly remembered he wanted to coach Liverpool! The real question is: Why should we accept a manager who treats us as a mere backup plan or a secondary option? To sit in the Liverpool dugout and carry the weight of this club's glorious history, Liverpool must always be your ultimate priority. The gates of Anfield should forever remain shut to anyone who treats us as an afterthought. Some might call this stubbornness, but to me, the club always comes first. Even if Xabi came to Liverpool now and won three consecutive UCL titles, three Premier Leagues, a Treble, or a Quadruple I could never truly accept him from the heart. Honestly, if he became our manager, I might have even had to stop watching Liverpool matches altogether! No individual or legend is ever bigger than the club. And if someone treats Liverpool as just an option, they don't deserve a single inch of space in the hearts of the Liverpool faithful.
